Lymphatic drainage
Lymph drainage Zurich – What are the effects of manual lymph drainage with bandages?
Lymphatic drainage is a gentle, specialized massage technique that promotes the removal of excess tissue fluid (lymph). This reduces swelling (edema), such as that which can occur after surgery, injuries, or due to lymphatic drainage disorders.
At PhysioMedsport in Binz, Zurich, manual lymphatic drainage with bandages is individually tailored to your needs. In addition to reducing swelling, it relieves pain, relaxes the tissue, and supports the immune system.
This form of therapy is frequently used for lymphedema, after cancer treatments, or for chronic swelling – and contributes to a lasting improvement in your well-being and mobility.

Lymphedema or lipedema – differences and treatment options
Lymphedema is caused by a dysfunction in the lymphatic system, resulting in fluid retention in the tissues and swelling – usually in the arms or legs. Lipedema, on the other hand, is a chronic fat distribution disorder that almost exclusively affects women and primarily occurs in the legs and arms.
Typical symptoms of lipedema include pressure pain, increased sensitivity, and a tendency to bruise easily. Both conditions can significantly impair quality of life and require targeted treatment.
At PhysioMedsport Zürich Binz, manual lymphatic drainage with bandaging is used on an individual basis to reduce swelling, relieve tissue pressure, and improve lymph flow in the long term.
How it works in the Therapy
What should I bring with me ?
You don't need to bring anything special. Comfortable clothing is recommended so you feel at ease during the treatment. If you already have compression stockings, please bring them with you.
2. What to expect during and after the treatment ?
Lymphatic drainage is a gentle, painless massage that reduces swelling and stimulates lymph flow. After the treatment, the affected area is fitted with a compression bandage, which should usually be worn overnight. A feeling of relief or relaxation may occur immediately after the therapy.
3. Therapy process and duration !
In the initial phase, treatment lasts approximately 2 to 3 weeks, with 2 to 3 sessions per week, each lasting 30 or 60 minutes. The goal is to reduce swelling as much as possible so that custom-made compression stockings can then be measured. The stockings are ready after about 10 days, and the lymphatic drainage treatment usually ends at that point. The stockings last for about a year, after which a new treatment plan can be created if necessary.
