Dry Needling

What is Dry Needling ?

Dry needling is an effective method for specifically relaxing tense or overworked muscles. Repeated poor posture, intense physical exertion, or minor injuries can cause individual muscle fibers to contract and become trapped. These areas develop into myofascial trigger points, which can cause localized pain or radiate to other parts of the body.

Dry needling involves precisely inserting a very fine, sterile needle into the affected muscle point. This triggers a brief, targeted reaction within the muscle, reducing tension, improving blood flow, and supporting natural regeneration. Often, significant relief and improved mobility can be observed after just a few treatments.

This treatment technique requires specialized training. At PhysioMedsport, dry needling is performed exclusively by specially trained therapists to ensure safe and professional execution.

What can Dry Needling treat !

Typical conditions for which dry needling can be very effective include:

• Headaches and neck pain, often triggered by tense neck muscles, poor posture, or shortened chest muscles
• Shoulder pain and muscular imbalances in the anterior and posterior muscle chains
• Tennis elbow or golfer's elbow due to overuse in manual labor, construction work, office work, or computer work
• Lower back pain caused by tense deep back muscles such as the quadratus lumborum
• Trigger points and overuse injuries in the legs, for example, in the calves or thighs of runners
• Muscular tension due to incorrect or excessive strain in everyday life, sports, or work

• Chronic or acute localized pain points that are sensitive to pressure or radiate to other areas

Dry needling is particularly suitable for people who continue to experience pain or persistent hardening despite exercise, stretching, or traditional massage. By specifically activating the affected muscle points, the tension is regulated and the muscle can return to its normal functional state.
